BUILDING RENOVATION  -  LAFAYETTE, LA

ROCK N SAKE LAFAYETTE

PROJECT SCOPE

PROJECT SCOPE

Originally home to a tanning salon, the renovation of this building includes the complete transformation into an eclectic Sushi Restaurant and Bar. This was accomplished through the carefully crafted interior and exterior architecture.

The renovation focused on removing the existing obstructions to create an open indoor-outdoor dining and bar experience. In addition to providing architectural plans, the design team also fabricated and installed the custom ceiling installation and exterior steel planters to complement the other design features such as the curving concrete counters and custom wall graphics. The design is inspired by the ripple effect of water. The fluid rippling through the space is expressed in a radial array of wooden members, designed to be experienced from below as if the entire restaurant is under water.

RENOVATION PLANS

The exterior of the building was transformed to be welcoming while working within the limitations of the neighborhood design guidelines. The interior was completely changed from a tanning salon to sushi restaurant. The design team utilized 3D modeling software to design the panels and plan the fabrication to minimize waste and maximize efficiency of installation. The production process made use of an in house CNC router, used to mill the individual wood members. The wood members were then assembled, finished and transported to the site. This project is a product of great teamwork between owner, contractor, interior designer, and architect. Everyone involved focused on detail and quality of craft during the process of design and execution.
